My Guruand His DIsciple is the story of Christopher Isherwood's long relationship with Swami Prabhavananda, the Hindu monk who was his spiritual mentor and friend. Throughout the more than thirty years he knew the Swami, Isherwood became convinced that his friend was neither lunatic nor fraud. Indeed, Isherwood gradually became aware of a Presence within Prabhavananda which was altogether other than his usually charming, sometimes cantankerous, sometimes absurd Bengali self. This humorous, remarkably honest and in no way pietistic sequel to Isherwood's previous autobiographical work...is an appealing combination of worldliness and spiritual aspiration.
Very good. Somewhat yellowed. Ex libris Dr Paul Kelly
